November 8, 2016: Launch of KT1DP Sweet Stars’ Aid Program

 

A lifesaving project of Kesavadev Trust is 'Kesavadev Trust Type 1 diabetes project(KT1DP) Sweet Stars initiative.'KT1DP Sweet Stars’ Aid Program was launched with the committed support of UST Global at JDC on 8th Nov 2016. The first free pump was handed to one of our economically challenged type 1 kid.  UST Global Country Head, Mr.Alexander Varghese and Dr.Shashi Tharoor MP and Ex-MLA Mr. V Sivankutty launched this project in the presence of Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev.

UST Global has decided to tie up with Kesavadev Trust and help with economically challenged children with type 1 diabetes by providing them with free insulin pumps and accessories and continuing care. This was announced by UST Global country head Alexander Varghese at a function organised at Jothydev's Diabetes Research Centre. A good majority of children with type 1 diabetes require insulin pumps for leading a normal life with normal longevity. Providing insulin pumps to ailing children is equivalent to gifting them life said Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev. Shashi Tharoor M.P who inaugurated the program emphasised the necessity for repeated patient education. Diabetes being a very costly illness, aggressive treatment need to be initiated from day one onwards to prevent disabilities, he said.
