Diabscreen Kerala free diabetes awareness, detection and treatment camp was organized by P.Kesavadev Trust and Mahatma Gandhi Saamskaarika Samithi at Aniyan’s Hospital, Oachira on 6 March 2014. The diabetes multidisciplinary team including Aneesa, Bindhu, Kala etc. performed anthropometric measurements and blood tests for the patients and generated awareness on the various aspects of managing diabetes. Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev lectured on prevention of complications of diabetes. Dieticina, JDC1, Greeshma Mohan lectured on diet in diabetes. Gopika Krishnan demonstrated insulin injection techniques. Prasad and Sreedevi (JDC Manager) coordinated the camp. Remya Nair (Research Pharmacist) coordinated data collection. Free consultation and medications were provided to the patients. Shri.C.R.Neelakandan (Environmental and cultural Activist) was the chief guest. Shri.A.J.Shajahan (President, Kaithari Kshema Board) gave address of felicitation. Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev was awarded Mahatma Gandhi Cultural Award 2014 for his commendable work spreading the awareness on diabetes among the general public and propagating the message of prevention of this silent killer for over 15 years. Mr.S. Sasisdharan, President (Aniyan’s Hospital), Mahatma Gandhi Saamskaarika Samithi coordinated the camp. Gen.Secretary, J.Baburaj gave welcome and Shri.S.E.Roy (Working President) gave vote of thanks.
