Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev was part of the official launch of once-weekly Semaglutide (Wegovy/Ozempic) in Mumbai on June 28, marking a major advancement in the treatment of obesity and diabetes in India. Used by over 45 million people globally, Semaglutide is now available in India after a long wait of nearly seven years due to global demand. The drug offers 15–20% weight loss when combined with lifestyle changes and shows added benefits in managing fatty liver, sleep apnea, joint pain, and in preventing cardiovascular and kidney complications. Available in five different pen devices (0.25 mg to 2.4 mg), Semaglutide is a promising tool in combating obesity - a major contributor to reduced life expectancy - and represents a new era in metabolic care.
