Diabscreen Kerala is a major diabetes awareness project of P.Kesavadev Trust. The Diabscreen Kerala team, headed by Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev, conducts diabetes awareness, prevention, and treatment programs at various geographical locations in collaboration with regional organizations.

Dr.N.Madhu,President of Indian Medical Association, North Paravoor presided the function in which Dr.Jothydev spoke about the modern trends in the Diabetes management in the Elderly.he also demonstrated on how to use the modern Insulin pumps. The North Paravoor doctors were academically well updated and actually participated in the discussion followed by the talk.

Que: While using Insulin in pen devices, Should it be refrigerated?
Ans:The pen devices which are commonly used include Novopen 3, Novomix, Novorapid, Lantus Optiset etc.Once the patient start using the disposable pen or a catridge, it need not be and in some cases should not be refrigerated. However unused catridges and pens should be kept inside the door of the refrigerator. Insulins should not be kept in the freezer compartment.The ideal temperature is between 2 degree celcius and 8 degree celcius.
