48th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes(EASD) was held at The Berlin Messe, Berlin, Germany from 1-5 October 2012. EASD Annual Meeting offered exciting insights into the most recent research findings in all aspects of diabetology. The research abstract from Jothydev's Diabetes and Research Center 'Optimal statin dosages and compliance: a five year retrospective cohort analysis in South Indian type 2 diabetes subjects' was presented at the EASD meeting. The study shows that average dosage requirements of statins in South Indian populations titrated to target lipid parameters are low and is undoubtedly a cost effective option and widespread public health campaigns have to be promoted to maintain statin compliance among diabetes patients.
