Diabscreen Kerala is a major diabetes awareness project of P.Kesavadev Trust. The Diabscreen Kerala team, headed by Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev, conducts diabetes awareness, prevention, and treatment programs at various geographical locations in collaboration with regional organizations.

The highlight of the 5th World Congress of DiabetesIndia 2013 was the Consensus meet for the use of gliptins in T2DM, insulin use in hospital, monitoring the glycemic control in T1,T2D & GDM, standard of care for T1D and management of PPHG that took place simultaneously in 5 halls of Hotel Le Meridien Convention Centre on April 18, 2013.Dr.Banshi Saboo was the Organizing Chairman. The Consensus Meet for Guidelines for monitoring the glycemic control in T1D, T2D & GDM was moderated by Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev. Chairpersons included Dr. Subhash Wangnoo (New Delhi) and Dr. Urman Dhruv (Ahmedabad). Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev gave introduction and lectured on the objective of the guidelines. The benefits of monitoring was dealt with Dr. S. K. Singh(Varanasi). Dr. Subhash Wangnoo spoke on SMBG as a tool for monitoring and Dr. Urman Dhruv on A1c. Dr.Johny Kanampilly spoke on CGM as a modality for monitoring. The different monitoring recommendations by ADA, IDF and NICE was by Dr. Sanjiv Shah followed by Dr.Mihir Saikia( Guwahati) on monitoring strategy for insulin treated patients. Dr. D. Maji lectured on Monitoring strategy for patients treated with OAD/incretin based therapies and Dr. Vinod Mittal on Association of SMBG with medication adherence and glycemic control. Dr. R.M. Anjana(Chennai), Dr. Rajesh Rajput(Rohtak), the panelists of the meet also participated in discussion. At the final drafting of guidelines and conclusion session Dr. Jothydev concluded that monitoring needs to be customised based on individual requirements and taking into consideration the economic background of the patients. There was a call for India specific monitoring guidelines from the speakers. Dr.Jothydev informed the audience that the consensus guidelines will be published in an indexed journal in 3 months time.
