Diabscreen Kerala (P.Kesavadev Trust) conducted the "diabetes walk" and
a quiz program for Standard 12 students of Trivandrum city schools.
Shri.Sivankutty MLA, inaugurated the event.The walk was organised so as to
symbolically convey the message of daily exercise for diabetes prevention.
Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev, Chairman of Diabscreen Kerala welcomed the gathering
and conducted the quiz along with Dr.Deepa Nair, Sunitha Jothydev and
Jayapalan.
During the walk the participants displayed cutouts on "normal Blood
pressure", "daily exercise", "maintaining normal waist circumferance", "self
treatement is dangerous", "foot care", "eat less fats", "celebrate aging;
treat diabetes" etc.,
Shri.Deshamangalam Ramakrishnan the renowned poet distributed prizes to
the winners of the competition. Dr.J.B Mohan, Sakshi.Shri.Ramachandran etc.,
offered vote of thanks.
Diabscreen Quiz for Standard 12 students were aimed at "promoting
healthy living habits and diabetes prevention methods".
The present diabesity(diabetes plus obesity) epidemic is indicating an
alarming rise in diabetes in the next 20 years time which can be prevented
only by creating awareness among the young generation. Jayasreelally was the chief co ordinator.
