CGMS is continuous glucose monitoring system, exclusively done for our selected patients. Though expensive this a very valuable tool for success in intensive metabolic management. In a good proportion of diabetes patients, the blood sugar fluctuations during the day and night are so diverse that it becomes very hard for the physician to titrate the dosage of drugs for glucose lowering. CGMS measures blood sugar every 10 seconds and stores it every 5 minutes. It can be worn for 1 to 3 days and the entire data can be downloaded to the computer for analysis.As seen in the CGMS graph posted in this web page you can have the recordings for 3 days in three different colors. Even detailed analysis of the data is possible with this newer generation systems so as to make radical changes in the medications offering the patient a trouble free life in future.
